CHRIS Lee (You Say, July 2) makes a good point about fencing off the quayside fountains, but we could go further.
The riverside also seems soiled by people's insistence in walking up and down the edge of it. Some vandals even have the gall to take to the water in boats.
What with people picnicking and children playing happily... what's the world coming to?
In fact, let's fence off the whole quayside and patrol it with poorly supervised dogs. Even better, let these dogs freely harass anyone who dares to pass.
The coup-de-grace would be to periodically shut important parts of the waterside, preferably the same parts time and again. People would soon lose interest in using the area.
For an idea of how this will work in practice, take a walk along the canal.
