MARY Fairbairn welcomed members to our garden meeting.
Lynne Jones read minutes of the last meeting, including news of our skittles team who came through to the finals in a competition involving 80 teams.
The business was done back in the village hall but this followed a very enjoyable visit to the Kingfisher Nurseries where we were given an excellent talk on organic gardening entitled 'Companion Planting'.
Everyone learnt a great deal. The talk was followed by a surprise quiz which really tested many of us, but the deserving winner was one of the really keen gardeners - Audrey Hodgson who was presented with a lavender shrub.
Members then went on to browse around the nursery and be tempted by the range of plants and goods on offer before returning to the village hall for the business.
Followed by a delicious buffet supper and excellent company, which everyone agreed had been a very pleasant change for our garden meeting.
