RESIDENTS in Mount Pleasant were overjoyed on Monday night when a decision to include the bottom of their gardens in a development plan was overturned.
At an executive committee meeting last month, councillors agreed to a development brief for more than 19 homes at the back of Mount Pleasant in an area known as Tilehouse.
The aim of the brief was to prevent individual developments on the site and protect people's properties.
But none of the residents agreed to the brief or agreed to sell the bottom of their gardens, fearing their homes would be devalued and they would feel under constant pressure to sell.
Residents launched a protest campaign and at a full council meeting on Monday, following a deputation, councillors agreed to quash the Executive Committee's decision.
