INITIAL proposals for a £250,000 road safety package for four Redditch schools have been drawn up and are out for consultation.
As part of its Safer Routes to School initiative, Worcestershire County Council has identified safety problems at St Augustine's High, St Bede's Middle, Mount Carmel First and St Thomas More First schools.
Preliminary drawings have been put up at the schools and consultation with parents, teachers and residents is now being undertaken.
An improved turning facility is set to be installed at St Augustine's, in an attempt to allow nine buses to serve the school safely.
Footpaths will be created and bus stops moved at St Bedes to alleviate conflict between cyclists and buses in Holloway Lane and Studley Road.
Extra facilities and footpaths will be put in at Mount Carmel in Webheath. And bus turning facilities and footpaths will be put in at Woodrow Centre to stop St Thomas More pupils standing in the road.
