FIREFIGHTERS have been getting to grips with the latest high-powered tools, which are tailor-made for use in car crashes.
More than £100,000 has now been ploughed into arming front-line engines of the Hereford and Worcester Fire Service with high-tech equipment to replace its two emergency tenders.
Powerful combi-tools, which have the strength to bend and shape metal to reach potential victims, are now just one of the many facilities onboard engines throughout the county.
All full-time and retained firefighters have been training with the new tools throughout the past six months, and have been in use since the beginning of this month.
Further heavy and high-powered equipment, which can be used in major accidents, such as plane, train and HGV crashes, will also be stationed at Droitwich.
