FROM reading the news to making the news. That's the transition that Nick Owen will be making on Sunday when he treads the boards at The Swan Theatre in Stratford to hep raise funds for the town's cricket club.
The BBC Midlands Today presenter has been enticed by David and Ali Troughton to join in a recital entitled "Come. Let's sport us while we may . .." - a laugh, a song and a tear on the subject of leisure.
RSC actor David, who is first team scorer at the Birmingham League club, will be joined on stage by wife Ali and sons Sam and Will together with daughter-in-law Naomi, wife of Warwickshire and England cricketer Jim.
Joining the family Troughton and newsman Nick on stage will be Simon Russell, Maureen Beattie, Rachael Ferjani, Phyllida Hancock, Matt Black and Julian Harris.
The curtain goes up at 7.30pm and tickets, priced from £5 to £25, are available from the RSC Box Office on 01789 403403.
The club is also looking for last minute sponsors and raffle prize donors in a bid to further boost finances.
If you can help then ring chairman Paul Biddlecombe on 01789 204266.
