ROWING: Bewdley Rowing Club came home from Ironbridge two-day regatta with 10 wins, including eight on Sunday's 500m course.
The novice eight showed their superior fitness on the longer 1,000m course on Saturday to collect their second win of the season by two boat lengths.
Sian Thompson coxed the team of Lawrence Hopkins, Stewart Cherrington, Simon Barbour, Dale Stokes, Ben Warnett, Mike Raven and Dominic Pitt.
Lewis Beech was again in winning form, taking the J16 single sculls on the first day and then storming to an impressive success in the J18 single sculls.
The senior 4 coxed four of Matt Collier, Ben Bevan, Jason Carpenter and James Gurney, coxed by Kerry Nightingale, were involved in an all-Bewdley final on both days.
The younger crew of Andy Jarvis, Tom Abbot, Graham Glen and Tom McNeil, coxed by Thompson, overpowered them on Saturday in the semi-final but the seniors collected the trophies after winning on the shorter course.
After being pipped to the post in past regattas this season, the novice four of Malcolm Burns, Marvin Powell, Robert Nicoll and Ulaf Lee, coxed by Charlotte Beswick, celebrated a convincing win.
John Hinton and Chris Hinton were in excellent form again in the veteran B coxless pairs, beating crews from Northwich, Loughborough and Ross.
Jo Atkinson, Maggie Jameson, Theresa Roberts and Crystal MacLeod, coxed by Lyndsey Salmon, defeated strong opposition in the senior 2 fours.
Bewdley captain Ross Haynes and vice-captain Ailsa Pybus both had cause to celebrate after winning men and women's novice single sculls.
Haynes defeated two club-mates Nick Jackson and Jim Nightingale with the latter taking an early bath after capsizing on the finish line.
Miles Banks coxed the veteran D eight of Mick Edmunds, Paul Warnett, Steve Brazier, Colin Loveday, Simon Perkins, Daryl Beech, Jem Rogers and Nightingale to a two-length win over Royal Chester.
