ATHLETICS: Hot conditions proved no obstacle for Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club runner Tom Kenderdine who won the Hereford 10-mile road race.
Kenderdine clocked 56 minutes 33 seconds, ahead of Steve Gould who was second and first veteran over-40 in 57-50.
Mick Hudson completed the course in one hour 36-36 and was among 90 finishers on the day.
Gould was also first veteran over-40 at the Stourbridge Stumble Multi Terrain 10k and third overall in 35-40.
Harold Lambert was first veteran over-50 and 16th in 38-34, followed by Rob Chrzan, 38-48, Sue Howarth, 50-16, and Hudson, 56-31, in a field of 242 runners.
In the fourth Young Athletes League meeting at Yate, there were victories for Charlotte Berrington, Elizabeth Dourneen, Daniel Bradley, Tim Wilson and Rhys Pritchard.
First places, boys, U-15s: Bradley (A 200m, 25.8 seconds; A shot putt, 8.41m), Wilson (A javelin, 34.93m; B 100m, 13.3; B 200m, 27.5); U-17s: Pritchard (A 400m, 55.0); girls, U-15s: Berrington (A high jump, 1.45m); U-17s: Dourneen (A 1,500m, 5-02.2; A 300m hurdles, 52.1).
Second places, boys, U-13s: Adam Roberts (A 800m, 2-30.1); U-15s: Bradley (A 100m, 12.7); girls, U-13s: Emma Holder (A 150m, 23.7; A 70m hurdles, 15.7); U-15s: Ellie Laverty (B 75m hurdles, 18.9), Melanie McGowan (B javelin, 16.85m); U-17s: Easton (A 200m, 30.5), Dourneen (A long jump, 4.16m).
Third places, boys, U-13s: Lewis Tandy (B 800m, 2-52); U-17s: Pritchard (A 200m, 25.3); girls, U-13s: Claire Blakeway (A 1,200m, 4-42.3), Tara Gibbons (B shot putt, 4.35m); U-15s: Berrington (A javelin, 19.24m).
