TENNIS: Bewdley coach Tracey Powell secured a record ninth ladies' title win at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Closed Championships in Malvern.
Powell defeated Frances Eckersley, of host club Manor Park, 6-3, 6-1 and teamed up with the same player to beat Dee Smith and Jackie Burton 6-0, 6-2 in the doubles.
The juniors at Bewdley have been taking after their coach in the U-14s Road to Wimbledon Challenge.
Keith Pratt won the boys' singles, defeating John Guy in a close final, and Fay Trezise took the girls' event beating Chelsea Gordon.
All four finalists went through to the county play-offs at Manor Park when Pratt and Trezise made the semi-finals, while Guy reached the quarter-finals and Gordon the second round.
Three younger members of the club represented Wyre Forest in the Worcestershire Youth Games recently with Olivia Ward, Tim Hopkins and James Kowalik winning the Fair Play Award.
