GOLF: There were more than 150 entries for Wharton Park's stableford competition on Sunday which marked Captain's Day, hosted by Steve Owen.

Kevin Middis took the honours for the men with 46 points, three ahead of Malcolm Jones.

The Bewdley club have had a busy last couple of weeks with a July Medal and a pro-am betterball competition between teams of four.

Each side was led by a professional and there was some outstanding scoring, despite the odd shower.

Captain's Day men's stableford: Middis 46 points 9 handicap, Jones 43-12, Dave Smart 41-9, Nick Clee 41-9, John Burston 41-11; Ladies' prize: Pat Haddon 43; Juniors' prize: Tom Bell 43.
