WORCESTER Hockey Club won the the Leominster Sixes tournament beating Kingslands 2-0.
They went in as favourites after last year's victory but faced four hard matches in the pool stages against National League Barford Tigers, home side Leominster, Abergavenny and Gloucester.
Against Gloucester in the first game Worcester started sluggishly in the heat and went one nil down, but recovered to win 2-1 although the score should have been higher with both forwards Ian Ewers and Alex Kotlarzewski missing good chances.
The second game against Barford was arguably the toughest game of the day but Worcester put in a fine performance to beat this strong side 6-2. A result which went a long way to securing their qualification to the semi finals.
This was secured with two more victories, a less polished 5-4 win against Abergavenny and a 8-0 vicrotry against home side.
The semi finals saw Worcester pitted against local rivals Kidderminster, a side who they have had the upper hand against in recent years with wto league games last season yielding 26 goals without reply for the Nunnery based side.
This trend continued but not as emphatically with Worcester winning on penalty strokes after the game finished goalless.
The final against Kingslands was a fairly one sided affair with Worcester winning 2-0 without having their goal challenged.
Chris Adams was outstanding in the final, but the squad of Ian Ewers, Chris Adams, Alex Kotlarzewski, Mark Wilson, Mark Richardson, Reg Sharratt and Jeremy Drake were outstanding all day.
