BUDDING Picassos and Rembrandts had their talents recognised in an art competition organised by Pershore Midsummer Brass.
Year nine students from Pershore High School were asked to draw a brass instrument in the style of a famous artist.
Pupils spent a term researching the project and Graham Boot, a senior teacher at the school, judged the results.
Competition organiser Carole Austin, head of art at the school, said: "All the work was very individual and varied. We are always very impressed with the quality of work the students produce."
Joint first prize was awarded to Tom Winfield and Sarah Taylor. Joe Coupland was awarded second prize and Lorraine Banks came third. Harriet Rea's piece was highly commended. A presentation recently took place at the town's library.
The works will be exhibited in the library until the Midsummer Brass Festival on Saturday, June 5.
