VILLAGERS dug deep for good causes when they turned out in force for Wolverley Carnival on Saturday.
The street collection during the colourful parade of floats raised a record £378 and organisers eventually hope to hand out £1,800 to non-profit-making organisations in the village.
About 2,000 people attended the annual event, which included the Severnsiders Marching Jazz Band, a dog display and tug of war.
The prize for the best senior float went to The Lock Inn, while the junior prize was won by Wolverley Sebright Cygnets.
