SEVEN schools have seen their artistic ambitions rewarded with a national accolade.
The first, middle and high schools from across Wyre Forest received Artsmarks - valid for three years - from Arts Council England in recognition of their work both in and out of the classroom.
Headteacher Brenda Wilson, of St Anne's Middle in Bewdley - which clinched a gold award along with Stourport First - said staff and pupils were "delighted" with their success.
"It celebrates the emphasis we put on the arts in education - art, design, dance, drama, literature and music," she said.
Mrs Wilson added she was "particularly impressed" with the Year Eight boys contemporary dance group which last year represented the school in "Voices and Visions," the annual arts showcase in Malvern.
Girls and boys who performed in the school's musical Shake, Ripple and Roll took to the stage yesterday at this year's festival.
Bewdley High, Comberton Middle, Lickhill Middle and Sladen Middle won silver while Burlish Park First was awarded Artsmark.
