EVESHAM Sailing Club has seen a strong turnout recently and last Sunday was no exception when a fair number of visitors also watched from the bank.
It was a warm humid day and the breeze appeared to swirl round from every direction all afternoon.
With the start of the first race the fleet headed off downstream towards the town with a congested turn before the long run past the clubhouse.
Haywood and Green slowly pulled away sharing the lead in turn, with the former eventually claiming first spot.
The second race saw Jeremy Higson take a flying lead with his rivals in pursuit - a few of whom eventually closed him down.
The lead at well past half-way could have taken by any one of five boats with Styles, Way, Pickford, Haywood and Green all in contention.
However, with Haywood bizarrely capsizing in gentle conditions and those around him watching, Pickford chose his moment to keep his concentration and pull away to earn a well deserved first place with Green again having to settle for second.
