THE managing director of one of Britain's most famous high street stores was back at his former school this week.
Sir Geoffrey Mulcahy, who went to The King's School, Worcester, between 1952 and 1960, worked for Esso and British Sugar before becoming managing director of Woolworth Holdings in 1984.
He was then involved in the largest buy-out ever seen in the UK, and now dominates international business as chief executive of the Kingfisher group plc, which includes Comet, Woolworths, Superdrug and DIY giant B&Q.
He returned to the College Green school to celebrate the opening of The King's School's new music department.
Other notable Old Vigornians - ex-King's School pupils - at the event included Derek Bell MBE, five times winner of the Le Mans 24-hour race, and Stephen Cleobury, director of music at King's College Cambridge.
