OUTSTANDING, brilliant, fantastic. Some of the many superlatives used by the many visitors after viewing the magnificent floral displays at All Saints Hollybush last weekend.

Special and sincere thanks to all the ladies and gents who worked so hard to create their own original interpretation of the wedding anniversary theme enhancing their arrangements with their own personal wedding photos and memorabilia which added further interest, together with some of the tiny wedding cakes made by Rosemarie Bolton.

An added attraction was an old Hampshire fire engine on display outside the church driven to the venue by Fireman Sam (Ted Hill), thanks also to Jill Moore and Wally from the Farmers Arms, Birtsmorton for their help and support. Shirley (Williams), your beautiful cottage garden and refreshing cuppas and cakes helped to make this event so successful. Thanks to all Shirley's family and friends who helped with serving and washing up.

A big thank you to the stewards and helpers (too numerous to mention) who helped with churchyard mowing, fetching, carrying and general dogsbody (someone has to do it), your contributions were so much a part of the end result.

Approximately 500 people from as far afield as Perth, Australia, Italy, France and various parts of Britain, as well as our faithful locals, passed through the church doors during the two days.

The culmination of the two days was a celebratory Songs of Praise with a wedding theme with readings and poetry included with the hymns selected by the flower arrangers and arranged and led so beautifully by our vicar, Rev Joy Birkin. All in all, a superb weekend with £1,400 being raised with donations, sales of teas and programmes towards our restoration fund. Hearty congratulations to all concerned. What an act to follow.

This Sunday, Priors Court gardens, Long Green, Tewkesbury will be open between 11am-5.30pm. This will also include gardeners' question time with BBC radio personality Reg Moule. Entrance £3.50.
