THE service at St Anne's Church, Oxenhall on Sunday was said matins. It was conducted by Mrs Jessie Williams of the ministerial team. Bible readings were by Mrs Dot Rogers and Mrs Kath Rees. Mrs Rogers was sidesman. The service ended with the congregation singing Fill Thou my Life, my God, with praise; this was unaccompanied. Next Sunday, the service at St Anne's Church will be family communion, which will be conducted by the Rev Vi Chester at 11am.
A jumble sale for St Anne's Church in Oxenhall will be held in Newent Memorial Hall on Thursday, July 31 at 7pm. These twice yearly jumble sales are very popular so book the date now!
The final amount raised for hall funds from the quiz evening was £250. Thanks have been expressed to all who contributed to the evening and a special vote of thanks to Mrs Eunice Cooper of Brand Green, who provided an interesting set of questions.
On Saturday, July 27 the Oxenhall Hall Trust and members of St Anne's parochial church council are holding a parish lunch. The time is 1pm for 1.30pm. Tickets are available from both committees; they are £7.50 for adults and £3 for children under 12 years old. The price includes one free drink and a buffet lunch. All are welcome.
The coffee morning for Newent Dolphin Gateway club raised the excellent sum of £590, which included £200 from people who could not be present. Grateful thanks to everyone who supported this worthy event.
