A summer evening of music was held in St John the Evangelist Church at Pauntley on Friday, June 27. It was a most enjoyable evening. The Rector, Rev Patricia Phillips did the introductions and thanked everyone for arranging such a delightful evening.
Mr Peter Wells organised the artistes and church members are very grateful to him for all his help. The artistes were: David Bennett, tenor; Richard Carter, flute and baritone; Emma England, reader; Geoffrey Kerr, piano; Dianna Walkley, alto; Brenda Wood, mezzo-soprano; Peter Wells, bass/baritone.
The superb refreshments of salmon and strawberries were prepared and served by ladies of Pauntley Parochial Church Council. It was by kind invitation of Mrs Christine Skelding that the refreshments were served in Pauntley Court.
The evening was well attended and the proceeds for Pauntley Church amounted to £542. The churchwardens and members of the parochial church council would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make this evening a superb social event and financial success.
The final amount of the Breast Cancer Research coffee morning arranged by Anne and Eric Solesbury at their home, Elm Grove, Pool Hill, is £950. This amount has been sent to Dr Owen's Research Fund at Cheltenham and will be used locally.
