GEORGE Cowley - the Evening News' prolific letter writer - has expanded his talents elsewhere by helping pen a song for The George Cowley Experience.
The Faithful City band were inspired to name themselves after George because of his frequent letters published in the Evening News.
Singer of the band Pete Unwin and Warndon pensioner George have written a song called Romantic Love which will be aired for the first time at The Art House Caf tonight.
"We wrote it about a year ago, but we have never performed it," says Pete, who is resident compere at the caf.
"George offered to help us around two years ago by writing songs. He's a romantic guy.
"The song is about remembering Byron and Keats, but now saying that everybody jumps between the sheets.
"It's a poignant number, going back to the idea of romance where a glimpse of a stocking was thought to be shocking."
Playing mainly at Worcester's Marr's Bar in Pierpoint Street, they can regularly be heard performing Hey George (originally the Hendrix hit Hey Joe) with lyrics such as "Hey George, what are you doing with that pen in your hand?"
They have even penned an ingenious take on a Bob Dylan masterpiece, now entitled Stuck Inside Of Warndon With The George Cowley Blues Again.
Their gig at The Art House Caf will be an acoustic one, with just three of the band's members, Peter on vocals, Rosey J on bass and Lefty Hopkins on guitar.
The new acoustic night will take place above Huntingdon Hall, CrownGate, Worcester.
The band, who will be injecting humour into the third acoustic night, have also got some new material including a song called Chantilly Billy which was inspired by their week-long European tour.
"When we were in France we asked for directions in French and the French replied in English," says Pete.
"Billy was actually a guy we met from Newcastle and we thought he was French!
"He was like: 'Alright mate.' We were in Chantilly at the time."
The George Cowley Experience also do a gospel song which praises George Cowley.
"It's praising him for his views on things," says Pete.
"A lot of his letters recently in the Evening News have been about religion."
The George Cowley Experience will be taking to the stage at 7.30pm tonight.
John Denton and Alan Davies, two jazz and blues guitarists, will be playing at 8.30pm.
The Machine Breakers, an acoustic roots rock duo, will be entertaining punters at 9.15pm with challenging lyrics that have an ironic flavour, delivered with vocal power.
Tickets are £2.
