A FIRM bidding to build flats near Safeway supermarket in Malvern could be asked to help pay for recreational open space.
Ciel Properties had plans to build 67 apartments between the store and Worcester Road refused in November on grounds it would mean building on a greenfield site.
It is now appealing against the decision. Malvern Hills District Council officers are recommending that if it is successful it should be asked to contribute towards provision of recreational open space. The issue will be discussed by the council's planning committee next week.
