A CHANCE to hear your favourite tune played on the organ at Malvern Priory will be offered as part of a campaign to fund its replacement.
The organ is being replaced in September and its last ever concert takes place on Sunday, July 20, at 4pm.
To help pay for the new instrument, appeal organisers are offering people a chance to pick a tune they would like to hear played.
Each nomination must be backed by a "bid", or pledge of money, which will go towards the £40,000 balance due on the new £375,000 organ. There will also be a retiring collection at the concert itself.
Organist Andrew Wilson has produced a list of well-known organ pieces, past and present, to provide people with some inspiration. It includes Bach, Verdi's Grand March from Aida and a modern piece for organ called Dancing Feet that is played entirely on the pedals.
However, fundraising committee chairman Mike Selby said other suggestions, such as pop tunes, would be considered.
"Why not choose something more modern?" he said.
"We'd probably have to have a look at the list if it got too outrageous but, at the end of the day, we're here to please."
Mr Selby said the concert would only last an hour and tunes that could not be included in would be played over the following weeks.
Request forms, with details about how to submit them, are available at the Priory Office and from the church itself. Completed forms must be returned by Sunday (July 13) to stand a chance of making it on to the programme.
