MALVERN will feature on national television this autumn as the setting for an episode of a property programme.
Cameras were in town last Thursday and Friday (July 3 and 4) to shoot To Buy or Not To Buy, a BBC1 daytime show.
Presented by Dominic Littlewood and Kristian Digby, each episode will help a member of the public find their perfect homes.
The Malvern episode stars Worcester couple Phil and Sam Schiaffino, who want to move to the town.
During the course of the programme they will be shown three houses - one on Worcester Road, one on Wilmot Road and a "wild card" on Lamb Bank set in a third of an acre of woodland.
The couple will then get to try out their favoured option by living in it for a day, before deciding whether or not to buy it.
"Usually when you buy a house it's the biggest expenditure you have in your lifetime,"explained series producer Gloria Wood.
"Yet people spend less time inside than they spend trying on a pair of shoes."
Ms Wood said that Malvern was a good place in which to film.
"I absolutely love it," she said. "It's got everything, beautiful setting, history. It makes good television because it's such a lovely town."
Ms Wood said curious neighbours had been coming up to question the television crew about the programme but that all the inquiries had been polite and good-humoured.
She added taht To Buy or Not To Buy would be a good showcase for the houses featured, even if they were not chosen by the TV buyers.
The programme will be broadcast in September, at a date to be confirmed.
