GREEN skipper Kevin Ratcliffe lost the toss and OEs elected to bat in this Sunday league fixture.
OLD ELIZABETHANS v BARNARDS GREEN
The wicket proved to be a good batting surface as the Old Elizabethan's innings was dominated by Steve May with a hard hit 193.
Early on the opening attack of Rich Brown and Duncan Bell bowled a good length and line. Bell picked up the wicket of Australian Nick McMillan who mistimed a drive to mid off.
Judd Doughty came on and bowled his nine overs for a respectable 30 runs, by now May was accelerating the scoring rate being particularly severe on anything short. Receiving good support from veteran Colin Groves (35) OEs finished on 281-4 off 45 overs.
Barnards Green faced with the large total started positively with Mark Hooper (27) and Paul Drinkwater putting on 54 for the first wicket before Hooper was stumped at the bowling of spinner Dorr. Drinkwater and Danny Flynn the put the Green in with a real chance with a stand of 104 in 16 overs before the former was out for a well crafted 60.
From here on Flynn was in control as he paced the reply perfectly receiving good support from the middle order. The partnership with Judd Doughty (20no) realising 57 runs in seven overs as Barnards Green passed the OEs total in the last over.
Flynn finished unbeaten on 120 in a chanceless innings including 19 boundaries.
