COLWALL III maintained their title challenge with a comfortable home win against Worcester Nomads at Ghost Meadow, Colwall on Saturday.

COLWALL III v WORCESTER NOMADS III

With some tight bowling from all the bowlers, particularly Baylis, Mike King and debutant Jeremy Leighton, Colwall restricted Nomads to 121-9 in their allotted 45 overs.

The pick of the bowlers being Jeremy Leighton with 4-14 off nine overs and Mike King 2-16 off eight overs with the unluckiest bowler being Kevin Baylis, returning from injury with a nine over spell, he bowled six maidens at a cost of only three runs.

Colwall were never in trouble in their chase for victory with Nils Purser (21) and Richard Williams (67) putting on 63 for the first wicket.

The momentum was continued when Clive Kendall (24no) joined Williams before the latter was finally bowled for a punishing 67.

This brought Jeremy Leighton to the wicket making his return to active cricket after a five year absence with his first scoring shot being a perfectly timed boundary through mid-wicket.

Colwall obviously hope that Jeremy features in their sides on a regular basis as with Richard Williams as their vast experience will be a huge benefit in assisting with the development of the exciting youngsters coming through the various age groups.

Colwall return to their Worcestershire League campaign next Saturday (July 19) at home to Old Elizabethans.
