BARNARDS Green Seconds travelled to bottom of the table Alveley.
ALVELEY II V BARNARDS GREEN II
On winning the toss skipper Dick Brown asked the opposition to bat, confident that his healthy bowling attack would make early inroads.
He was right to be confident as Chris Hill (13 overs 4-8) continued where he had finished off the week before dismissing opener Taylor in his first over.
Yet again Bell was consistent in his six over spell (1-18), when bowling with extra pace he managed to dismiss the other opener.
After the introduction of Stu Fletcher to the bowling attack, he and Hill took a wicket virtually every other over.
It was only the 27th over when Stu Fletcher bowled number 11 batsman Higgins with his second wicket-taking middle stump yorker of the game. It was too good for most top order batsmen let alone a tail ender, Fletcher finished (7.1 overs 4-21).
This ended Alveley's innings on just 49, the only real highlight being Brian Hancock's outstanding diving one-handed slip catch.
This gave the Green the best chance they would get of completing two ten-wicket victories in a row as Hancock and Clarke strode out to the middle. Clarke however was soon back as he was bowled second ball for four.
This brought James Curtis to the crease. With nothing to lose Alveley got behind their bowlers and swapped them round looking for any breakthrough they could. This came in the 13th over when Hancock was caught off the bowling of Higgins for 13 but Green were already just seven short of the total required. These came in the next over as Curtis (27no) hit the winning runs.
