ONE of the youngest sides ever to turn out for a Nomads senior fixture emerged with great credit from their fixture at Cookhill.

COOKHILL v WORCESTER NOMADS SUNDAY II

With six players aged between 13 and 15, Nomads might have felt overawed by their opposition, but not a bit of it, as the side showed the benefits of their youth policy.

Cookhill batted first, and without significant contributions from McCracken (92no) and Harris (43) from their total of 187-7, the outcome of the game could have been very different.

Tom Malone , Ben Chatfield, John Cook and James Welchman, all youth players, bowled 30 of the 40 overs between them, sometimes without a great deal of luck.

Malone and Cook took the wickets, with 3-42 and 2-45 respectively, but Chatfield and Welchman could easily have had a share in the spoils. John Goodreds provided the experience in the middle of the innings, taking 2-28.

In reply, Nomads were always prepared to chase the game. Bill Jones (14) and Dave Pearson (40) shared an opening stand of 46, and along with Jamie Matts (27) looked to be in control.

Pearson and Matts fell in quick succession, and the accuracy of the bowling proved too much, as Nomads were dismissed for 134.
