MEMBERS of the public were given the chance to discuss the pros and cons of genetically modified food in Worcester at the weekend.
Worcestershire Greenpeace set up a stand in the High Street, on Saturday, to hold face-to-face consultations with the public and gauge the opinions of those who would not normally become involved with such a debate.
Peter Robinson, Greenpeace co-ordinator for Worcester, said they gave the public a chance to make an informed decision about a controversial issue.
"It went very well and we spoke to a lot of people.
"We handed out the GM Nation forms, which were produced by the Government, and encouraged people to send them off to make their voices known," he said.
"Around 65 people took part in our questionnaire. Nearly every single one of them said they wanted their food to be GM free."
