A TEENAGE boy died when the car he was in collided with a stationary lorry on the hard shoulder of a motorway, police said today.
The 16-year-old, from Gloucestershire, was killed in the crash on the westbound M42 near Redditch, Worcestershire, yesterday.
The Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said two other men who were travelling with the teenager were both taken to hospital.
Sgt Colin Middleton said the condition of one of the men was serious, while the other had minor injuries.
Pulled
They are not thought to be related to the boy.
Sgt Middleton said the heavy goods vehicle had broken down and pulled on to the hard shoulder before the tragedy happened at 8pm.
The carriageway was reduced to just one lane between Junctions 3 and 3a while firefighters and paramedics from Warwickshire's emergency services rescued the three victims from the wreckage of the vehicle.
Witnesses have been urged to call the CMPG on 0121 322 6025.
