IT's hot... And it's going to get hotter.
That's the message from Worcester weatherman Paul Damari and there will be few in the Faithful City that will argue today after the scorching weekend.
Barbourne was listed as the hottest place in Britain yesterday, with a high of 30c (86f).
But there are predictions that it will sizzle even more today, and we will be melting in the highest temperatures of the year.
Many of the weekend's sun worshipers kept the heat at bay by heading for the coast or by drinking copious amounts of cool drinks.
However, there is the ever-present danger that some will not resist the temptation and take to the rivers and pools to keep their cool.
This paper has reported two river deaths over the last two weeks and our archives contain many examples of summer dips that have ended in tragedy.
There cannot of been many recent summers when warnings on water safety have not rung out in one form or another.
Yet this paper is already hearing stories of people risking their lives, either through ignorance or indiscretion, in the pursuit of a cooling moment.
With one week to go before the start of the main school summer holidays, it is a good time to reinforce the message that all rivers and pools contain unseen dangers.
The perfect time for parents to drill the message into their families - it's better to be safe than sorry.
