JOHN Hinton (You Say, Tuesday, July 8) believes Tesco are so spiteful that they'd fund a new Christopher Whitehead High School and leave the site as "an area of wasteland", if they weren't allowed to build their store.
The 248 people who objected to the city council know the school won't move without planning permission for Tesco first.
That's why the objectors - most of them parents with children at Chrissies or its feeder primary schools - are so delighted that the city council considered the planning issue properly and reflected the wishes of their electorate.
Councillor Marc Bayliss told the planning meeting that 80 per cent of his constituents do not want the school to move.
That's unlike the county council's representatives, who've made no effort to understand parents' and residents' wishes.
