PUPILS took the plunge and delved into the murky world of their school pond as part of a special eco day.
Youngsters at Warndon Junior School, Edgeworth Close, took part in a variety of activities from pond-dipping to games involving recycling as part of a day-long series of activities aimed at encouraging them to think about their environment.
School teacher Lynda Morgan said the children really enjoyed the event, which took place yesterday.
"Pupils used magnifying glasses to study the pondlife and we discovered we had a baby newt and water scorpions," said Mrs Morgan.
"The children were fascinated and we were amazed at the stuff we found in the pond."
The event was organised by the Warndon 360 project which aims to forge links with schools and through activities, deter children away from anti-social behaviour by encouraging them to look at their environment and the impact they have upon it.
