PARENTS have been accused of parking across driveways and even on people's lawns when they attended last week's sports day at Kempsey Primary School.
Complaints about inconsiderate parking in Ellsdon were raised with Kempsey beat manager PC Alan Naulls at a parish council meeting.
"It's not very nice for some of the elderly people to have a great big 4x4 stuck on their front lawn. The parents are so selfish," said Ann Hart.
PC Naulls said it would be helpful if some of the parents would mention to others that there was a big parking area nearby and they did not need to park on people's lawns.
But no complaints about parking have been received at Kempsey Primary School for more than a year.
"I was not aware that there was a problem. No one reported a blocked drive or any other problem whatsoever," said headteacher Heather Simpson.
"We try to work closely with neighbours and treat them with courtesy and respect. If there is a difficulty I would urge people to take the registration number and report it to the school and then we could ask the driver to move their vehicle."
She said the school had an arrangement with the Talbot Inn that parents could use the pub car park when delivering or collecting their children.
Parents at an induction morning for children starting in September had been advised to park at the Talbot and general reminders were regularly given out in school newsletters.
Those from outside the village were encouraged to park at the Talbot during the school's recent well-supported Walk to School week, said Mrs Simpson.
