Redditch is permitted to have two pedestrian crossings by the Minister of Transport.
On Monday, Redditch Council's public works committee decided to recommend to the council to ask the minister for permission to place a crossing in Alcester Street and one in Evesham Street.
Since the bus station has been opened, the volume of pedestrian traffic in Alcester Street has increased.
Now children from St Stephen's School who wish to travel on buses have to cross the wide part of Alcester Street.
It is felt a pedestrian crossing is needed.
