WORCESTERSHIRE Saints went down 52-12 in their latest rugby league defeat in Cardiff.
The Cardiff Demons Total RL.Com Rugby League Conference South West Division clash was always going to be tough.
Following Worcestershire's 64-0 defeat away to the Somerset Vikings a week ago the Saints needed a more convincing performance.
However, they were facing the unbeaten league leaders away at Penarth on Saturday and they were not about to offer any sympathy for the visitors.
Cardiff had already scored more than 400 points this season and on a hard pitch with scorching temperatures, they quickly took control of the match.
A try after only six minutes was followed by five more in the opening 25 minutes as Cardiff moved into a 30-point lead.
The Saints were guilty of losing possession on too many occasions and they struggled to break out of their own half as Cardiff pressed forward aiming to reach a half century of points before the end of the half.
A solo try from full back Richard Whitehouse, after 30 minutes, relieved the pressure on the visitors somewhat. Whitehouse con-verted and the Saints raised their game for the remaining minutes of the half to prevent any further scoring.
Cardiff re-established their authority straight from the re-start with two tries in the space of a minute. A third try made the score 46-6 before Steve Holmes replied for the Saints with a try in the corner.
Whitehouse added the extra points before Cardiff had the final word with a try in the last minute.
Next week the Saints will have to win their final match of the regular season away at the Oxford Cavaliers if they are to have any chance of a home draw in the end-of-season play-offs.
