WENDY Bennett has starred for Great Britain on the world stage -- and she walked it!
The Worcester ace was selected to race for Great Britain in the 5K walk on Friday and came in sixth in sultry conditions inside the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.
Forty athletes from Britain took part in the Track and Field Championship and Bennett was delighted with her first GB race overseas.
"It was a great experience, being part of the GB team and staying at a sports university just outside Barcelona that was used during the Olympics," she said.
"It was very hot. The walk was the first event and the temperature played a big part in my race".
Bennett's sixth place sealed valuable points for the team and Great Britain finished second to Italy overall.
