PERSHORE'S players were walking a little taller on Saturday evening after a convincing Crusader Worcestershire County League triumph.
The Division One strugglers pocketed welcome points after a terrific all-round display. Pershore were invited to bat by Luctonians and suffered an early blow when Stephen Cooper was dismissed.
However, Liam Ridings (70) and David White (85) added 105 for the second wicket before 35 in 24 balls from Lee Wilks helped the score advance swiftly by 70 in tandem with White.
Phil Oxley then plundered 61 off just 32 balls, while skipper Trevor Ridings (23) helped pile on the misery for the visitors in stand of 87 in ten overs as Pershore closed on a mammoth 297-4.
Luctonians didn't appear intimidated by the task ahead as Australian Alan Butterworth led the chase as the visitors topped three figures within 15 overs.
However, a fine piece of fielding ran out the dangerous Aussie for 61 made from 38 balls and the chase petered out.
Withers hit 37 but he was the only batsman to master a Pershore attack as Wilks (3-60) and Martin Johnson (3-54) shone brightest.
A young Astwood Bank side proved no match for Pershore the next day as the visitors gained a Sunday Clubs League success.
Arno Botha led the way with 47 runs and four wickets as Pershore rattled up 250-6 with further good contributions from Luke Eversham (49), Steve Meers (39) and Liam Ridings (35no).
Botha then helped reduce the hosts to 63-8 before hitting back and only being bowled out in the penultimate over for 153. Steve Emsley took 3-27.
