Dear Editor - When the Throckmorton asylum centre plans were shelved, I heard Wychavon had cut a deal with Whitehall offering to house immigrants in surrounding towns.
I expected lodging hostels full of single men, urban unemployment, rising crime rates and ensuing mayhem. I was wrong.
The civic leaders of Evesham and Pershore have only accepted complete family units in homes dispersed throughout Droitwich. Their presence is notable only by its invisibility. For once it seems Wychavon have not dumped yet another of their problems in our Spa. I do hope our district councillors have remembered to claim their fair share of the credit for this success.
A Roebuck, Grafson Place,
Droitwich Spa.
