"MANIACS and louts" were ruining the game of rugby with the authorities doing little to stamp out the bad behaviour of some players. The strong words came from Bromsgrove Rugby Club secretary Paul Rabey in a speech at the annual meeting. He went on to say Bromsgrove had no such players, their's were "gentlemen." Last season the club made a £650 profit.
THE 9,000 visitors who packed Rubery Recreation Ground to watch the village carnival gala events were unaware that one of the star turns, a member of a stunt motorbike team, had shattered a leg in two places when falling from his machine. The bike flipped over but he maintained a grip on it to prevent it careering into the crowd.
