THE Woodland View's affordable open was held on Arles pool last Tuesday and begins this week's round-up.
Leading the strong field was Paul Foster (Blackheath) with short pole fished corn and meat at peg 10 to take a 64-9-0 catch. Colin Pace (Bilston) was a close second with 62-14-0 and third, Sean McCarthy (Pill Angling), 60-8-0.
Northfield Starlets Veterans held their event on Moorlands Farm's Meadow and Moors pools. In first place was Dave Bennett (Stourbridge) who waggler fished meat at Meadow peg 41 for 67-8-0. Brian Hill (Stourport) followed with 47-12-0; third, Ken Giles (Alvechurch), 45-4-0.
The Wednesday Astwood Fisheries open went to Rob Francis (Droitwich Angling Centre) with a feeder and corn catch of 74-11-0 from Smokey Joes pool peg 37. Second was John Halfpenny (Astwood) with 41-6-0 and third Paul Webley's (Kateshill AC) 28-0-0.
At Lodge Park, Redditch, the evening series continued with Neil Wallis (Lodge Park) taking a close verdict with a 21-10-0 catch with method feeder and pellet hookbait from peg 40. Club mate Carl Bovington was second with 21-2-0; third, Steve Marke (Ovation Leisure), 13-10-0. Yours truly Tony Brunn (Ovation Leisure) leads the points table with 46; Rob Bishop and Colin Woodward both on 42.
Thursday saw the Midland Bears AA at Woodland View's Deans pool where Keith Chambers (Shirley) showed the way by pole fishing corn at peg 52 for 36-12-0. Bert Sutton (Great Barr) was second with 32-10-0.
The KH Veterans were at Barbourne pool, Cotheridge, where a new club record was set by Derek Buckle (Bewdley) when he pole fished meat in the margins of peg 22 for 117-6-0 of Carp. Harold Willey (Kidderminster) took 79-13-0 for second while lady angler Pat Kavanagh (Stourbridge) was third with 71-11-0.
Moorlands Farm's Costcutter open was topped by Paul Cahill (Bartley Green) with a ton up catch of 116-5-0 by pole fishing meat at Meadow pool peg seven. Steve Watson (Moorlands) was second with 75-12-0 while third went to Mark Bradley's (Alvechurch) 65-8-0.
The three-hour evening Meadow pool event was won by Steve Harris (Strike Angling) and again it was meat that produced 76-7-0 from peg three. Cahill just missed the double with 64-2-0; third, Dean Sheldon (Strike Angling), 58-0-0.
On Friday, the Woodland View's afternoon Arles pool open produced a very close result. Staked at peg 22, Terry King (Greenman) pole fished corn and meat to take a winning 57-1-0 catch. Mark Westwood (Woodland Elite) was second with 56-7-0 and third, Paul Newman (AOK), taking 53-2-0.
Saturday's Woodland Views Deans pool open was dominated by Richard Lawson (Colmic) when he pole fished luncheon meat at peg 62 to take a 112-10-0 Carp haul. Second, Sean McCarthy (Pill Angling), had 77-12-0 and third was Alan Jones (DGL) with 47-2-0.
Lucas College Road AC fished its fourth bye contest on BAA Stubbs pool and with the lack of fish it was always going to be hard. Winner Jim Pedley found a single 7-4-0 Carp in the dying minutes taken with feedered red maggots from peg 32. Paul Amos at the same time took a Carp of 6-15-0 for second and third place went to club secretary Stan Jones with a carp of 6-8-0.
Round seven of the Moorlands Farm summer league was held on the Bank and Meadow pools and the Bank pool came up trumps for the top three individuals.
First place went to Ian Whitehouse (Strike Angling) with a pole and corn catch of 153-0-0 from peg 18, second was Les Thompson (Shakespeare) with 116-0-0 and third was Gary Picken (Lifestyle), taking 99-12-0. Top team on the day were Shakespeare with 10 points and they the league lead with 17 from Strike Angling's 20.
At Broad Acres the main lake open went to Graham Upton (Rover) by pole fishing casters and meat at peg 34 for 26-6-8. Runner-up Steve Brelsforth (Triplex) had 25-15-0; third, John Harris (Triplex), 19-4-0.
On Sunday, the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell pool open was won by Paul Savings (Sheldon Heath) with a pole and corn catch of 51-8-0 from peg 17. Trevor Hodges (Reservoir Dogs) took 23-12-0 for second while third was Dave Henderson (Sheldon Heath) with 21-9-0.
Kings Norton AS held its fourth aggregate contest on the Oak pool at Ockeridge Fishery, near Holt Fleet. Continuing his good form was Bromsgrove's John Miller staked at peg seven where he waggler fished red maggots over casters and worms to take a bonus six pounds of Carp in his otherwise mixed catch of 11-6-8. Second placed Steve Woodward had 6-3-8; third, Dick Harwood's 5-15-0.
Chris Cameron (DGL) won the Moorlands Farm Meadow pool open by pole fishing corn in the margins of peg 32 for 86-9-0. Pete Whitehouse (Strike Angling) was second with 70-3-0.
Woodland View's evening Deans pool open gave a clear victory to Steve Morgan (Woodlands) by pole fishing corn and meat at peg 21 for 91-10-0. Second placed Jason Smith (Colmic) had 63-2-0 and third was Steve Pickup's (Fishermans Friend) 62-4-0.
Furnace Mill's Mucky Meadow pool open was topped by Neville Grooves (Fosters MG) with a pole and corn catch of 67-10-0 from peg 40.
