EVESHAM'S emphatic Worcestershire A Team League win over strong opp-osition earned six points to leave them top of the table ahead of Droitwich by half a point with five matches remaining.
Unfortunately, a no show from one of the Ross players meant that first pair out Lloyd Stephens and David Tarry had the unenviable task of playing just one man who, even though playing off three, couldn't cope on his own against the home pair.
Stuart Ridley and Brian Haines comfortably beat Ross's strongest pair, while Richard Minton and Nick Webb cruised home to make it 3-0.
Team captain James Bailey and Mike Callaghan closed out their opposition while the two Smiths, Rob and Tony, combined well to make it 5-0.
The only match that went the distance was a ding-dong battle for Gavin Pugh and Sean Curtis who eventually won on the last.
Results: Stephens & Tarry won 5 & 4; Ridley & Haines won 5 & 4; Minton & Webb won 3 & 2; Bailey & Callaghan won 3 & 2; Smith & Smith won 4 & 3; Pugh & Curtis won 1up.
