A DRAMATIC story of how women got the vote will be told at a Bromsgrove venue this month.
Mikron Theatre Company will visit the Ladybird Inn, in Stoke Road, with their production A Woman's Place - the fight for Women's Suffrage on Sunday, July 27.
The story, which depicts the epic struggle for votes for women in the decade leading up to the First World War, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Women's Social and Political Union by Emmeline Pankhurst.
The tale focuses particularly on the relationship between Emma Taylor, a Lancashire millworker, and Mrs Pankhurst's militant suffragette daughter Christabel.
The show, written by Mike Lucas and Rodney Matthew, is laced with humour with original songs and music by Jim Woodland.
Mikron's four actor-musicians are Kate Buxton and Peter Toon, returning for their second season with the Company, and Charley Moon, who is making his fourth Mikron tour. They are joined by newcomer Marianne McNamara.
The performance, sponsored by the Ladybird Inn and Sunrise Windows of Redditch, will start at 5pm.
