LAST Thursday's latest match in the Summer Evening League fished at a local lake turned up a surprise with the winner coming off peg 11 on the reed free side of the lake.
Carp to 4.0.0 helped Frank Lake weigh in a total of 15.8.0, to claim not only the match but the golden peg as well.
In second place was Neil Hards who caught the heaviest fish of the night at 5.0.0, finishing with a total weight of 10.12.0 from peg eight. Bringing up third place was Roy Thomson with a bag of 5.10.0 from peg six in the reeds.
Yet another fine match ended a good week of fishing for the club when they visited Oakham Farm at Loxley on Sunday for a fourth round match in the Wooffs Summer League.
It was that man Lake who once again turned in the winning weight, with carp and tench spinning the scales round to 20.4.0.
On the golden peg was Thomson who almost lifted the prize, but finished in second place with 17.8.0.
Bringing up third only a solitary ounce adrift was Bill Scarrott (17.7.0).
In the Partnership's Knockout Cup, Lake, Thomson and Ray Woods all had a walk- over into the semi-finals.
