BROMSGROVE sun-worshippers basked in the sweltering heat wave this weekend as scorching temperatures in the town reached the soaraway heights of 32C (90F).
June was the warmest on record since 1976 and Monday was the hottest day this year.
ASDA in Market Street reported a rush on barbecue goodies. Customer service manager Eileeen Parsons said: "Drinks, charcoal and meat products have been practically walking out of the shop. We want to say a big thank you to all the staff who have been brilliant keeping the shelves stocked during the hot weather and through the ongoing refurbishment."
Townsfolk were keen to enjoy the sunshine and many splashed out on garden swimming pools.
Office worker at Pools and Gardens swimming pool retailers in Wychbold, Josie Marshall said: "We've completely sold out of over-ground pools and the phone hasn't stopped ringing with enquiries!"
The Dodford Inn beer and folk festival was a runaway success with regulars at the pub proclaiming the weekend long do 'the best one yet'.
Licensee Carol Johnston said: "With the hot weather we've been having we had sold out of beer by Saturday evening and had to run round trying to stock up for our thirsty punters."
The sunny spell looks set to continue until the end of the week but temperatures may drop slightly at the weekend.
