DOCTORS are to assess whether a deaf man charged with computer child pornography offences is fit to plead.
Richard Stevens, aged 23, of Crofters Green, Droitwich, is accused of possessing indecent photographs, distributing them and making them.
His barrister Michael Duck (correct) told Worcester Crown Court that he suffered from severe agrophobia and profound deafness.
The defence was waiting for a medical assessment before Stevens enters pleas to the charges.
Stevens, who appeared before Judge Michael Mott accompanied by his parents, seemed bewildered by the proceedings and had to be led in and out of the courtroom. Alex Warren, prosecuting, said the defendant had not left his home for seven years except to appear before magistrates on the present charges.
Judge Mott granted Stevens bail and adjourned the case until August 11 for a plea and directions.
