WILY Wythall put up a brave fight against Warwickshire League Division Three leaders Streetley to earn themselves a losing draw on Saturday.
Dave Gollum's 4-25 helped restrict championship-chasing Streetley to 265-9.
Shiriz's solid 55 with the bat then ensured that Wythall clawed 10 points from the encounter which puts the club in a positive mood for the second half of the season, starting with a trip to Great Barr on Saturday (2pm).
Meanwhile, Wythall's relegation-threatened neighbours Five Ways Old Edwardians also managed to bag precious points (seven) by drawing with Off Church.
Five Ways crucially lost the toss in the heat and were given a 246-7 total to chase.
But Chris Jones' side set about their task with aplomb, reaching 80-1 before being pegged back.
After losing three wickets in quick succession, Five Ways - helped by their Man of the Match David Deamer (49) - shut up shop to claim their spoils.
This Saturday, though, presents the club with a huge task as they take on Streetley (2pm).
