IT was a surprise to discover the band responsible for hits such as One Horse Town and Big Sur are not American but in fact hail from the Emerald Isle.

Think of a less energetic Beach Boys crossed with The Byrds and with a pinch of Bob Dylan thrown in for good measure and you'll have a fair idea of this band's brand of music.

The album's roots are definitely retro, conjuring up thoughts of hippies, road trips, San Francisco, surf and the 70s but it also somehow manages to incorporate a modern twist.

On the whole it has a cool vibe blending country with surf pop harmonies which is most apparent on tracks like Big Sur and Santa Cruz (You're Not That Far), simple tunes and feelgood music which makes the album stand out as a perfect soundtrack to the summer.

Other songs include Old Friends, New Lovers, Say It Ain't So, Don't Steal Our Sun and Just Travelling Through.

But the best has got to be One Horse Town - again it's a simple tune but there's a hint of desperation and depression about it which gives it more of an edge than the others.
