WHILE waiting in the queue for Sainsbury island, from Bordesley direction, I noticed drivers swerving from the inside lane and, not giving two hoots to authority, drive on the half of the road designated for white lines.
Goodness, I thought, whatever next! The reason, when I finally arrived, was apparent. Glass was all over the road, the third lot I have seen recently.
Since, presumably, my council tax helped pay for the road markings, I thought perhaps someone could be employed, situated on the island in a hut, to clear up the glass. Arm them with a broom, traffic cones, or better still, portable traffic lights - that would be fun.
It would also make me feel a lot better if I thought someone was actually benefiting from this potty layout.
