LAST week saw the clash of the titans as the top two teams in the Prudden Road Surfacing League battled it out.
Leaders Inkberrow A met second-placed Stratford C in what could have proved a decisive encounter.
Nick Aylett and Tim Bradshaw got Inkberrow off to a winning start taking the opening set off Simon Roach and Dennis Mecklenberg 6-4.
However, the Stratford pair immediately bounced back to take the second set 6-3.
In a final set, with no quarter given, Aylett and Bradshaw broke serve to take the set and the rubber 6-4.
After the change, the same Inkberrow pair disposed of Slatter and Craig 6-0, 6-0.
Fatigue played its part in producing this scoreline as Slatter and Craig were exhausted after clinching a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 victory for in a nail-biting match over Kevin Grainger and Anthony Duggan.
Stratford then squared the match at two rubbers apiece when Roach and Mecklen-berg also beat Grainger and Duggan 6-3, 6-4.
Inkberrow stay top four points clear of their closest rivals who have a game in hand. Littleton A climbed over Studley A into fourth spot after a surprising 4-0 scoreline.
Although John Hunt and Tom Pugh battled bravely in two three-setters they couldn't prevent a whitewash.
