THERE'S just one week left until judges from the Heart of England in Bloom competition come to Alcester.
The four Heart of England in Bloom 2003 judges have already got under way in their quest to find the best and most beautiful towns and cities in the region.
In all, 40 different locations will be judged right up until the end of the month.
Last year, Alcester was the only town in the district to receive a Gold Award in the regional category.
And to add to the collection, the St Nicholas' Church Yard committee won an exceptional achievement award.
Alcester in Bloom chairman Maggie Payne said: "Everything's going to plan so far - we've just got the worst job now which is weeding the gutters.
"I am really excited about this one, I'm keeping my fingers crossed the weather stays nice.
"I just hope the town enjoys it because everyone has worked so hard."
Winners of the annual competition go forward to Britain in Bloom.
